My transformative journey: four months as a TGS intern in Brussels

Events

A warm welcome into the TGS family

From day one, I was welcomed with open arms into the TGS Brussels office. Despite being new to the TGS world, I immediately felt at ease thanks to the supportive and collaborative culture that defines the organization. The team’s openness to new perspectives and their trust in my abilities created an empowering environment where I was encouraged to take initiative, bring ideas to the table, and make meaningful contributions.

Values that resonate: sustainability and transparency in action

What initially drew me to TGS was its commitment to quality, transparency, and sustainable development. In a world increasingly shaped by social and environmental urgency, the network’s alignment with the UN Global Compact and its active promotion of ESG practices resonated powerfully with me. These are not just buzzwords at TGS—they are embedded in the fabric of its global operations, from the annual Quality Process to the ESG Activator platform.

TGS is far more than just a network. It is a living, breathing example of how sustainability, collaboration, and innovation can come together across borders. Seeing a business network actively promote responsible governance and accountability convinced me that I could find a place here, both professionally and ethically.

Hands-on experience: from event management to digital innovation

One of the highlights of my experience was participating in the organization of the EMEA Regional Conference held in Brussels in May. This project allowed me to engage deeply with logistics, program development, and real-time event communication. Being entrusted with such responsibilities was both humbling and exciting. It taught me how to manage multiple tasks under pressure and how to communicate effectively and professionally in a multicultural setting.

Throughout the internship, I also had the chance to contribute to TGS’s broader communication strategy. From writing and publishing newsletters and articles to helping relaunch the TGS U learning platform, I gained invaluable insight into the many layers of brand management and internal cohesion within a global network.

Embracing diversity: learning in a multicultural environment

TGS’s multicultural and multilingual nature was another aspect I cherished deeply. I was constantly exposed to diverse perspectives, work styles, and problem-solving approaches. This cultural richness made every day intellectually stimulating and personally fulfilling. It challenged me to think beyond my usual frames of reference and to embrace collaboration from around the world.

Even in the more technical aspects of my role, such as learning to manage a WordPress website and navigating cross-border communication, I found growth and fulfillment. The work atmosphere was one of trust, professionalism, and genuine care.

A journey of growth and gratitude

Above all, I am thankful. Thankful for the trust placed in me, for the opportunities I was given, and for the relationships I built. TGS is more than just a professional network; it is a community that empowers individuals to grow, think differently, and act with purpose. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of this story.

This journey has left a lasting mark, and I look forward to continuing to grow with the values, vision, and energy that define this extraordinary organization.
