TGS Edlund & Partners achieved sustainable growth through ethical leadership

From Talk to Action: TGS’s ESG Champion

The recent TGS ESG Success Story webinar, featuring Andreas Wassberg, served as a powerful reminder that meaningful change comes from taking action. Centered on sustainable business growth, ethical leadership, and the importance of measuring impact, the session encouraged TGS members to integrate ESG actions into their strategy for long-term success. These actions not only drive revenue and attract top talent but also give firms a competitive edge across all areas of business.

Small Beginnings, Strategic Growth

Doing something is always better than doing nothing. Andreas shared the journey of his firm, TGS Edlund & Partners, which has grown from a one-person operation in 2013 to a thriving company with 60 employees. This expansion was not a stroke of luck, but the result of strategic decisions based on sustainability, equality, and continuous improvement. If you don’t do it, someone else will, companies who stand out for the right reasons are the ones who thrive.

Beyond Token Diversity: Equality as Strategic Advantage

Equality in business does not mean treating everyone the same—it means recognizing that different people bring unique strengths and expertise. By valuing these differences, companies can create a more innovative and resilient workforce. The initial senior management team of only three people – two men and one woman – was expanded to resolve early challenges. Edlund & Partners now have a senior management team of three men and four women, achieving gender equality at the highest level, and gaining access to new knowledge and perspectives in the decision-making process.

Measuring What Matters: Wellbeing as Bottom Line

A critical part of this strategy is maintaining a focus on both mental and physical health. At Edlund & Partners, they actively measure employee well-being on a weekly basis, ensuring that personal and professional development remain a priority. Protecting personal interests and handling sensitive information responsibly are also key elements in fostering a supportive work environment. For the firm, measuring impact is essential, not just in financial terms but also in terms of emotions and motivation. Andreas explained how being “haunted” by the need to do the right thing drives companies to make better decisions. Employee involvement fosters the creation of initiatives that are tailored to your specific needs and helps to cultivate a positive work environment, which will enhance overall productivity.

Walking the Talk: ESG Leadership in Practice

Being an ESG-friendly company means not only making the right choices but also being a model for others. Edlund & Partners has taken an active role in sharing knowledge and partnering with entrepreneurs to create a business culture that supports long-term growth. Investing in leadership programs helps ensure that future leaders are prepared to take on challenges in a way that aligns with company values. This commitment to development has been reinforced at Edlund & Partners by hiring a full-time HR professional, a decision that has significantly contributed to their growth and ability to attract top talent.

Nurturing Tomorrow’s Innovators: The External Impact

Beyond internal growth, Edlund & Partners has also focused on its external impact and works on supporting the next generation. The company is actively involved in encouraging local entrepreneurship, particularly among young people. Through partnerships with schools, lectures at universities, and business forums, they are working to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. Andreas stressed the importance of creating opportunities where none exist—if something is missing in the industry, businesses should dare to make the change themselves. Taking the initiative to establish new forums, meet influential people, and give back to society is a strategy that benefits both businesses and the wider community. Be Creative and dare to make the change – innovation is essential in driving business forward.

The ESG Imperative: From Words to Metrics

By integrating these principles into their business strategies, TGS members can not only improve their own organizations but also contribute to a more ethical, sustainable, and successful global business environment. The session concluded with a strong call to action: it is not enough to talk about ESG—it must be implemented through real, measurable efforts.
